Knini Paati River Resort is the place where the beauty of contrasts comes together. The accommodation is equipped with all comforts and conveniences. An unique multiple days getaway deep into the Surinamese rainforest where you’ll explore the jungle, experience the Saramaccan culture, and enjoy nature while staying at a comfortable riverside resort.
You’ll depart from Paramaribo and travel to Atjoni, the gateway to the Upper Suriname River. From there, a boat ride takes you to Knini Paati Resort. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a refreshing drink and shown to their rooms. After lunch, you’ll have free time to explore the island, swim in the river, or just relax. Later, there’s an optional walk or a boat ride to admire the stunning surroundings. Dinner is served in the lodge’s restaurant, followed by a relaxed evening.
After breakfast, a jungle walk is on the agenda. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll learn about medicinal plants and the ecosystem. Upon return, enjoy lunch and some rest. In the afternoon, you’ll visit one or more traditional Saramaccan villages. This cultural excursion provides insight into the unique traditions and lifestyle of the local community. Back at the resort, dinner is served, and the day ends with time to relax or chat by the river.
After breakfast around 9 a.m., get ready for a kayak tour that lasts about 1 hour. A true experience where you are an experience and experience richer afterwards. Upon your return, lunch will be ready, after which you can further enjoy nature and the other facilities at the resort by hanging out with a good book or for siesta. You also have the opportunity to go swimming, relax in the sula or enjoy a nice cold beer in the restaurant.
The fourth day of your stay is again focused on relaxing. Breakfast is ready again from 08.00 and afterwards you can enjoy your last hours on the island. Relax in the hammock on the balcony of your lodge or swim in the sula before you return to the bustle of Paramaribo. At 11 am it is time for the check-out, after which you can enjoy a delicious lunch at 11:30 am. At 12:00 the return journey to Atjoni starts where you will be picked up by our driver. During the return journey you make one (1) stopover so that you are back on time at your holiday address, satisfied from the beautiful journey of discovery in Upper Suriname!
