This 2 or 3 day tours offers an immersive experience in the indigenous region of Galibi, located in northeastern Suriname. Guests will explore the rich culture and stunning natural beauty of the area, including visits to Moengo, Albina and Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni in French Guiana. A highlight of the tour is the opportunity to witness the nesting process of sea turtles during the season from February til July. Guests will be staying at Urusji Lodge, just outside the village with a serene retreat that offers the perfect place to slow down and connect in stillness.
he journey begins with an 8:00 AM departure from Paramaribo by bus, traveling approximately 2.5 hours to Albina. Here, a boat awaits to transport guests to Galibi, a 1.5-hour scenic ride. Upon arrival at Galibi, guests proceed to Urusji Lodge and enjoy a welcoming lunch. After some relaxation, a village walk is scheduled for 5:00 PM, offering insights into the local population and an opportunity to purchase handmade souvenirs in Christiaankondre. Dinner is served in the evening. At 9:00 PM, guests embark on a boat trip to observe the sea turtles’ nesting process, a 20-minute sail to the beach. The return to the lodge depends on the duration of the nesting observation.
After a guided beach walk and optional swim, guests enjoy breakfast before departing by boat back to Albina. On the return, there is a stop in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni with the option to visit the historical prison (bagno). After lunch in Albina, the group travels back to Paramaribo, with arrival expected late afternoon.
Guests choosing for the 3-day package enjoy a free day after breakfast. Activities may include swimming, a visit to the tiger sandbank, and a cultural show (available for groups of 8+). The next day follows the same return itinerary as the 2-day tour.
