The trip begins with an early morning departure from Paramaribo. The journey heads westward, with the first stop in the Saramacca district at Groningen, where guests can explore the area’s historical significance. Next, a stop in the Coronie district provides a chance to appreciate its serene coastal landscape and enjoy a local lunch. By approximately 3:00 PM, the tour reaches Nickerie, where guests go on a boat trip along the Nickerie River, immersing in the region’s natural beauty. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay in Nickerie.
After breakfast at the hotel, the day starts with a guided tour of downtown Nickerie, exploring its vibrant markets and cultural landmarks. The tour proceeds to the sea dike, offering panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. A visit to a local rice mill provides insights into Nickerie’s prominent rice industry. Following lunch, the journey back to Paramaribo, with an expected arrival around 5:00 PM.
