This tour is a 2-day getaway from Paramaribo into one of Suriname’s most peaceful and unspoiled district, Coronie. The journey takes you along the scenic coastal road, with a stop in Saramacca (Groningen), before arriving in Totness, Coronie for an overnight stay in a comfortable local accommodation.
On day two, a guided Agro Tourism experience brings you up close with Coronie’s authentic culture and craftsmanship, from herb gardens and beekeepers to historic landmarks and a lunch prepared by locals. The tour wraps up with a return to Paramaribo, or for those wanting more, an optional extension to the remote wilderness of Bigi Pan.
Your journey begins in Paramaribo, where you depart in the morning for a scenic drive along the coastal road heading west. Along the way, you make a stop in Saramacca (Groningen) to stretch your legs, take in the surroundings, and enjoy a brief visit to this historic area before continuing your route.
After passing through the vast open landscapes and polders that define this part of Suriname, you arrive in Totness, Coronie, the capital of Suriname’s smallest populated district. Known for its towering coconut palms, colonial architecture, and peaceful way of life, Coronie immediately welcomes you with its signature atmosphere: Peaceful, Free and Friendly.
After breakfast, your guided Classic Coronie experience begins. Led by knowledgeable local tour guides, this Agro Tourism tour takes you deep into the nature, culture, and craftsmanship that Coronie is known for — particularly its honey and coconut processing traditions.
