Experience Suriname’s untouched rainforest, breathtaking waterfalls, and authentic indigenous culture on this 4-day adventure tour. Travel by 4×4 through the jungle, visit one of the country’s largest waterfalls, and explore the native villages of Apoera, Washabo, and Little Kwamalasemoetoe.
We depart Paramaribo in a 4×4, passing Zanderij and several local villages. Along the way, you may spot monkeys, sloths, parrots, macaws, and even the majestic powisi bird. At Witagron, a traditional Maroon village, we stop for lunch and a cultural introduction. The journey continues deeper into the rainforest, crossing creeks and bridges until we reach Blanche Marie. Explore the falls, take a refreshing swim, and enjoy a hearty dinner under the stars.
After breakfast, we hike through the rainforest towards the falls. Your guide will share knowledge about the area’s flora and fauna while you enjoy the powerful rapids and cascades. Relax in natural rock pools, experience a “jungle massage” under the falls, or go for a swim. After lunch at the lodge, we visit the El Dorado Falls with opportunities for fishing or simply unwinding in nature.
We head towards Apoera, a small border town with unique history and charm. After checking into our lodge, enjoy a sightseeing tour of the town before visiting the “railway to nowhere.” Later, we explore the Trio and Arawak villages of Washabo and Little Kwamalasemoetoe. Walk through the villages, meet locals, and learn about their culture and traditions. Souvenirs made by the villagers are available. Dinner and evening socializing back at the lodge.
After breakfast, begin the return journey to Paramaribo, with an expected arrival in the late afternoon.
