Tour Program

Day 1

The tour begins with a 55-minute domestic flight from Paramaribo to Kajana airstrip. After arrival, guests are welcomed and taken by boat (30 minutes) to the lodge. Once settled, a short island tour introduces the eco-friendly lodge. Guests enjoy a natural massage in the Peti rapids and lunch. In the evening, a night boat tour offers the chance to spot caimans.

Day 2

After breakfast, a guided boat tour follows the river to observe local life. The trip continues with cultural sessions at the lodge, offering insight into Saramaccan traditions. Guests can unwind in the peaceful surroundings in the afternoon and evening.

Day 3

Guests begin with a jungle walk in the early morning, discovering local flora and fauna. After breakfast, there’s time for rest or participation in traditional crafts or cooking demonstrations. A communal dinner ends the day.

Day 4

This day is left open for you to shape your own adventure. Begin with a guided forest walk to spot wildlife such as monkeys, colorful birds, and tropical frogs. You may also visit a local agricultural plot to gain insight into the traditions and daily life of the Maroon community.

If you’d rather take it easy, glide down the river in a canoe, unwind in a hammock with a good book, or ask your guide to share knowledge about medicinal plants found in the rainforest. How you spend the day is completely up to you.

Day 5

Your final morning starts with a tranquil boat trip at sunrise, a magical moment as the rainforest comes to life with sounds and movement. After breakfast, there’s still time for a refreshing swim, a canoe outing, or simply enjoying the last impressions of the jungle.

Before departure, the Awarradam team will give you a warm farewell in their traditional way. You will then travel by boat back to Kajana and take a return flight to Paramaribo, bringing your jungle adventure to a memorable close.
