Tour Program or Activities
Day 1
After a short briefing and a cup of coffee or tea, it’s time to leave Paramaribo. You’ll head into the untouched jungle by car, a trip that takes about 4 hours depending on stops. You will first arrive at the basecamp, where you can take a swim and enjoy a meal.
Put on your jungle clothing, because it’s time to conquer Fredberg. The hike to the top takes about 3 to 4 hours through untouched rainforest. It’s very doable for anyone in normal physical condition. Once you reach the top, it’s time to enjoy. The views are incredible, and with a small kitchen and sleeping camp (hammocks), all basic facilities for a good night’s rest are provided. For the overnight stay, you will receive an extra bag with a hammock, sheet, and two 1.5L bottles of water that you’ll carry to the top. Your personal belongings go in your daypack. Items not needed on the mountain can be safely stored at the basecamp.
Enjoy the sunset; a sky full of stars from the mountain top before going to sleep at this extraordinary place.
Day 2
Wake up early in your hammock for one of the most beautiful sunrises in Suriname. From above, you’ll see the jungle awaken to the sounds of howler monkeys and vibrant birds like macaws flying by. The cook prepares a hearty breakfast so you can begin the day full of energy. Today, you’ll explore the jungle even further. Your guide will take you down the other side of the mountain. Please note that spotting the Guianan cock-of-the-rock depends on the season, and we cannot guarantee you will see this bird.
After the jungle hike, you’ll arrive back at the basecamp, where it’s time to unwind. A generous lunch with ice-cold drinks will be waiting for you. Tonight, you’ll sleep in a comfortable bed, no hammock needed. You can go fishing, take a boat ride, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings along the river.
At the end of the afternoon, you’ll head out once more with a guide to spot birds and possibly nocturnal animals. The day often ends around the campfire, sharing the highlights of this unforgettable experience.
Day 3
For the 3 day tour, is this day your last day at the base camp.
Can’t get enough of the jungle? Then you can head out early in the morning with your guide once more to spot even more wildlife. After the walk, a generous breakfast buffet will be waiting for you. After that, it’s time to pack your belongings, prepare your lunch boxes, and begin the drive back to Paramaribo.
